Capt. Clark (Commandant of Midshipman) and Midshipman First Class Jasperson, Amore, and Kremers address a large crowd on a very hot and humid day. Thank you to all of them for taking time out of their very busy schedules to answer questions about Plebe Summer. More pictures on the picture page.

A detailer walked alone in Tecumseh Court as a Black Flag Day haulted noon meal formation and cancelled the 4th Class Formal Parade minutes before its commencement on July 16, 2010; the same day a 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook parts of Annapolis. Plebe Summer is all about adapting to changing circumstances and the Class of 2014 is doing it well!

I-Day Class of 2014
The I-Day festivities began early on July 1st. It was a lovely day and we had the largest crowd of parents ever visit our table at the Alumni Association luncheon. We had Club members giving out information and helping new Plebe parents with the emotions of the day. After a brief rest during the afternoon, the Maryland Parents and Sponsors Club assembled at the Mexican Monument and ministered with the Navy Chaplains and members of the Class of 1964 representing the 50 year Link-in-the-Chain program, to Plebes that did not have family present at the ceremony. We provided phones, water, and snacks for about 75 members of the Class of 2014. They called parents, sisters and brothers, grandparents, girl and boy friends, and any other phone number they could remember. This occurred during the time when most Plebes updated their moms and dads about the day's activities, visited with their family for about 40 minutes, and said their final goodbyes as they started Plebe Summer and separation from civilian life.
The day was full of emotion.....
Pride...apprehension...pride...excitement...pride..separation...pride...confusion...pride...
overwhelmingness...pride...consolation...pride...information...pride...relief...pride...
acquisition...pride...exhaustion...pride...patriotism...pride...reunion...pride...goodbye...pride...heartache...pride...all on a spectacular weather I-Day in Annapolis.
The Parents and Sponsors Club of Maryland understands the emotions of I-Day and Welcomes the Class of 2014!

Welcome Aboard Picnic Class of 2014

Thank you to all of the Midshipmen and Ensigns who took time out of their liberty to attend
On a sweltering Sunday afternoon, over 175 people including current Club members, midshipmen, and officers gathered at the Welcome Aboard picnic for great food, an informative program, and a chance to welcome the newest members of the USNA family. Ensign Jonathan Ventura addressed the group and led the midshipmen as they answered the incoming plebes' questions. Special guest, Rear Admiral Matthew Klunder spoke from the perspective of a father as his son, Michael, has accepted an appointment to the Academy and will be entering the Class of 2014. Many parents and sponsors helped with supplies, setup, food, and cleanup. We are grateful for all the help and how the "P&SC of MD" family responded. Be watching this space for more details about our next picnic the, Over-the-Hump, July 24th.
