FACTS ABOUT USNA PARENTS AND SPONSORS CLUB OF MARYLAND

The purpose of our Club is to provide support to our United States Naval Academy Midshipman and to provide information and support to their parents, guardians and sponsors. The USNA Parents Clubs exist in almost every state in the nation and in some foreign countries. We are organized under the auspices of the USNA Alumni Association. Our Club was founded in 1981 by Joe & Lorrie Latchford. The Maryland Parents and Sponsors Club is unique in two ways:

  1. We are the only club that operates in the same state as the United States Naval Academy
  2. We are the only club that includes sponsors of USNA midshipmen. The sponsors often become a second “family” to our midshipmen.

We meet from four to six times a year. At our meeting we are fortunate to have guest speakers from the Academy leadership and staff make presentations. Our programs provide an opportunity for parents and sponsors to learn and to ask questions about topics of mutual interest.

This website will keep you up-to-date on Club activities, current happenings at the Academy, and other items of interest pertaining to our midshipmen. We tailgate at all home football games and also have a shipmate program. This is where current year members provide insight and support to incoming plebe parents. This program was started to help parents new to the academy understand the myriad of activities, processes and practices that are part of their midshipman's life during his or her plebe year.
