“Wreaths For NOAH”
Ordering Deadline Has been extended until middle December
Please join us in a fund raising project, “Wreaths For NOAH.” This will be a demonstration of Naval Academy families pulling together supporting one of our own- The Thyberg family (Daniel ‘12/6) and their younger son, Noah’s second chance for life.
What: Noah is an 11-year old boy from Clarksville, Maryland. His brother Daniel is a 3/C Midshipman in 6th company. Noah was the lacrosse goalie on a local travel lacrosse team. Noah became ill this summer with a bad case of the flu. After failing to fully recover from the virus, his family discovered his heart was not functioning properly. His heart continued to weaken and it was determined that the only way for him to lead a healthy full life would be via a heart transplant. Noah had his heart transplant on September 4th at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
Why: Raise funds to help Thyberg family to cover out of pocket cost of anti-rejection medication for Noah (these cost are approximately $2-3,000 monthly.)
How: Buy your Christmas Wreaths from AmericanWreath.com (10% of proceeds will be donated to Noah’s fund) At Checkout please make sure to enter coupon code: NAPC09
When: Now thru Nov 8, 2009 (wreaths delivered Nov 24 thru Dec 18)
American Wreath will donate 10% of all their sales to this cause. We will send a check to COTA (Children’s Organ Transplant Association)
If you wish to help this cause directly, you can simply mail your tax deductible donation. Make your check payable to COTA (Please write Noah Thyberg in memo field). Mail check to:
Naval Academy Parents & Sponsors Club of Maryland
PO Box 411
Annapolis, MD 21404-0411
Will you help? We thank you for your support.

The Joint Service Academy Ball has been in existence for 21 years. It is an opportunity for Cadets and Midshipmen from Air Force, West Point, Naval, Merchant Marines, and Coast Guard Academies and their families/friends and to experience their first formal military dining event. The Ball is traditionally held during the Winter Holidays when Midshipmen and Cadets are home on leave. Balls are held throughout the country and are hosted by the various Parents’ Clubs.
Last year, the JSAB committee for Northern Virginia and Maryland, enrolled the JSAB in the Congressional District Programs (CDP). This makes the JSAB a charitable organization by giving us 501 (3) (c) status. Last year the Ball hosted over 300 guests. There will be a reception, formal sit down dinner, a guest speaker, DJ, professional photographer, dancing etc.
Ticket prices will be set to cover expenses and all fundraising efforts will be donated to the Navy’s Safe Harbor Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.
It is always a lovely evening and we hope that this year’s event will be no exception
Make sure you save the date for this memorable event, December 26, 2009 at the Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel. On-line registration information and more details will be provided in the next couple of months. Let your Mid know NOW. They will have a great time. More information will follow.
