Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale Center For Ethical Leadership

The mission of the Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership at the Naval Academy is to empower leaders to make courageous ethical decisions.  The Center was established to focus on the character, ethical and leadership development of the future leaders of the Navy and Marine Corps and the nation. 

The Center is truly a margin of excellence activity at USNA, receiving the majority of its funding from private gifts. The Center has far-reaching impact on the Brigade of Midshipmen, Academy faculty, staff, and coaches, Navy leadership, federal agencies and national and international institutions of influence

Stockdale Center Focus

  • Identifying, investigating and addressing emerging military ethical leadership issues.
  • Providing education and consultation for both emerging and experienced leaders.
  • Introducing innovative technologies and concepts to enhance and accelerate the ethical leadership development process.
