Communicate with the Class

Got a message for the class?

Dear Classmates,

I encourage you to use the features of our group web site to coordinate activities and hook up with old friends. You have several options all of which require at least a Yahoo ID to get started. Afterwards, you will be post messages and share pictures with the class as follows:
  1. Subscribe. Send a blank message to usna_1981-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. You should get a reply message asking further questions. After you have completed subscribing, you will be able to post messages to our group web site.
  2. Create a Yahoo Account. Visit Yahoo! Groups and create a Yahoo! account. This is optional, But you may find it easier posting messages online instead of replying to messages via group email. This is especially true if you happened to delete the message in your email account but you wanted to post a reply message. Also, although I've complained to Yahoo!, an account is required if you want to see the calendar online.
  3. Post Messages. Send them to usna_1981@yahoogroups.com. Don't forget to include a subject. Otherwise, it will be difficult for folks to distinguish your message from others. Also, the group web site does not accept attachments. So, do not attach pictures or documents.
  4. Reply to Messages. Logon to our Yahoo group and reply to messages on-line. Or, when you receive a group message, reply to it and your reply will be posted.
  5. Delete Messages. If a message did not post as you intended, send a request to delete the message with the message number to usna_1981-owner@yahoogroups.com.
  6. Broadcast Messages. Broadcast messages are posted to the group website and distributed to all registered classmates who have not opted to recieve email (i.e. the 'No Email' option). Send requests to usna_1981-owner@yahoogroups.com.
  7. Share Pictures. We have to group websites to share pictures publicly and privately.
  8. Control Email Delivery. If you have a Yahoo! account, you may customize delivery as follows: 'Individual Emails', 'Daily Digest', 'Special Notices', or 'No Email'. If you do not have a Yahoo! account, I assign the option 'Special Notices' when you subscribe. Special notices are broadcast messages that are posted at the website and distributed to all members that do not have the `No Email' option.
  9. Customize Content. If you are active in class activities, I'll be glad to support your agenda (reunion, fund raising, etc). Just join us for our periodic conference calls, come up with an idea, and let me know what you want to communicate via the general pages of the web site.

As always, I appreciate and encourage comments, questions, and feedback.

Cheers,
Bob Kennington
