Subject: USNA 55 Fifty-Year Book
To: USNA55
I have been trying to recruit company representatives from each company
to
help with the collection of bios, sea stories, vignettes or whatever from
each and every living classmate or from the widows for our Fifty -Year Book.
We missed a few submissions in both the Fifteen-Year and Thirty-Year books
and would like to improve on that. So far I have been unable to find a
volunteer from the following companies: 3, 5, 7,10, 11, 17, 18 and 24. I
have
put out some queries but gotten no response from classmates in these
companies. If any of you out there can help let me know (Amcisaacxxxxxx).
It won't require too much of your time and you have a chance to renew
acquaintances with some of your classmates. We will give you all the
information we have of last location. We just need the personal touch to
convince the non-participants to participate. The timing of this activity
will be in the fall of 2003.
If you respond and you don't hear from me right away it is because on Friday
I am off to Bethany Beach for a week, but I'll get back to you. Expect to
Win. Beat Army.
Your classmate, Tom

COMMUNICATIONS CHANNELS.
The easiest and fastest method of getting the word out to classmates is
by
email (as I'm doing now). At the present time, I have the email address
for
317 classmates (53% of living '55 graduates). Regarding contact channels,
another 111 receive Shipmate and an additional 153 can be reached by snail
mail only. 11 classmates are "lost". They are: James W.
Ellstrom (24),
John J. Flynn, Jr. (11), Leroy F. Gayle (11), Larry Heisel (18), Aaron B.
Jacobs (21), Michael D. Kandra (18), Delbert V. Keener (24), Ronald D. Miller
(03), Thomas E. O'Brien (10), William R. Young (15), and Donald L. Zuckerman
(16). In addition to the '55 listserve (maintained by Carl Strang),
which
allows for an open exchange of information, I maintain several email address
groups for the purpose of disseminating information that I think would be
of
particular interest to particular classmates, e.g. get-together
announcements, meetings, and USN/USNA special events, sent to non-listserve
classmates as well.
I would like to improve on the existing '55 communications channels.
For all
within range of this message, please encourage classmates you are in contact
with, who have access, to "sign up" by sending their email address to me
at
kief55@xxxxxxx. They can indicate what type of participation they
are
interested in, e.g '55 listserve or other.
Also, inform me if you know the whereabouts or status of any of the "lost"
listed above.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. The intent is to inform,
not
intrude.
Best regards,
Tom Kiefaber, '55 Corresponding Secretary

I thought I had sent you an update of Mickey's whereabouts last fall.
I
ran him down in Delaware. He had an address in SE PA for a short time,
about six months which is the one everybody seems to have. He said
mail
is no longer being forwarded from that address. We had a nice long
chat. Mickey is from my hometown Shamokin, PA. He was two years
ahead
of me in HS and went to Penn State for two years before he arrived at
USNA. Mickey and my wife Patsy are HS classmates. He also indicated
he
would have made the 45th if he had received some information. We need
to make sure he is on the 50th mailing list. Also he should be added
to
the locator on the Alumni Associations website. I don't know whether
that is your domain or Norm Palladino's or Carl Strang's.
{Webmaster Note: Home mailing address edited out here.}
He does not have an email address

Norm,
This concerns merchandise sales at our 50th Reunion. I don't think
you
want to be involved. But thanks for all the great work on the web
site. ATB
