Historic Ogle Hall Enhancement
Built more than 200 years ago, Ogle Hall, or Alumni House, is recognized by the National Register of Historic Places as a cultural resource worthy of preservation. Since its initial construction in 1739, Ogle Hall was been a landmark in Annapolis and has played an important role in local history, long before it became the home of the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association.
Purchased by the Alumni Association in 1944, Ogle Hall provides a central meeting place for Alumni, visitors, midshipmen and other members of the Naval Academy community, while also functioning as the official working headquarters for the Alumni Association.
In an effort to assure that Historic Ogle Hall is relevant to all generations, including those still to come, the Alumni Association has embarked on an enhancement project to ensure that Alumni House is accessible and habitable for all—for all Alumni and their families, friends and visitors, and especially for our employees who come to work here every day. The largest project undertaking to date at Ogle Hall since its initial construction, the enhancements will include the complete renovation and rehabilitation of all restroom facilities through out the home (which includes making them ADA "American with Disabilities Act" compliant and handicap accessible); the consolidation and improvement of the heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems; and the construction of an elevator at the rear of the building, all while preserving the integrity of the Colonial architecture and the surrounding grounds.
