USNA Yard Card Program
The Yard Card has a brand new look and will transition to a new format for Academic Year 2009. Beginning August 3, 2009, all currently enrolled Yard Card members must visit the Yard Card Cash Office in the Midshipmen Store to exchange their present Yard Card for the new Yard Card preloaded with their existing balance.
After August 3, 2009, you may also visit our new online Yard Card site at https://yardcard.usna.edu to add funds to your Midshipman’s account safely and securely online. The funds you deposit online will be available immediately to your Midshipman, no longer requiring them to report to the Yard Card Cash Office to load the funds onto their Yard Cards. Additionally, your Midshipman can conveniently keep track of his or her daily balance through the Yard Card online Account Manager at https://yardcard.usna.edu. Stay tuned for exciting promotions throughout the year exclusive to Yard Card Members.
For a USNA Midshipman, the Yard Card is an essential component of the Naval Academy living and learning environment. The Yard Card serves as a reloadable debit card and works like cash to be used for purchases at participating locations throughout the Naval Academy Yard including retail locations, coffee bar and dining locations, textbooks, and more.
Once funded, the Yard Card works as a flexible spending account that can be used for purchases – without needing a credit card or cash. By making sure the account is adequately funded for the start of the academic year, your Midshipman will be prepared for anything he or she may need.
The Yard Card is accepted as a form of payment in the following locations:
- Mid Store
- USNA Gift Shop
- Uniform Store
- Textbooks
- Cobbler Shop
- Repair Tailor Shop
- Barbershop/Waves
- Dress Uniform Issues Center
- Coffee Bars: Nimitz Library/Hart Room
- Restaurants: Drydock, Steerage, Naval Academy Club, The Alley, Club at Greenbury Point
Most importantly, proceeds from the above activities are returned to the Brigade of Midshipmen in the form of funding for the Midshipmen Welfare Fund!
For those of you with Midshipmen that already have Yard Card Accounts, as of August 3, 2009, you may begin adding funds to your Midshipman’s account safely and securely online by visiting us at https://yardcard.usna.edu. Or, to add funds by mail, simply return the attached deposit slip with a check made out to Naval Academy Business Services Division. You can add funds at any time for any amount. You can also make a deposit via telephone by contacting the Yard Card Cash Office at 410-293-0414. Once funded, the account balance will decline with each purchase your Midshipman makes, and you can make additional deposits at anytime throughout the year at https://yardcard.usna.edu. With the Yard Card, there is no credit card interest or charges, no chance of overdrawing the account, and no need to carry cash around the Yard.
