Donor Recognition Society

The United States Naval Academy has steadfastly followed a distinctive course and become one of America’s finest academic institutions.  However, the Academy goes well beyond the scope of a typical institution.  The Naval Academy has been unsurpassed in fulfilling an even more unique purpose:  preparing Naval and Marine Corps officers to lead and serve our nation at the highest levels of command, citizenship and government.

Every premier institution has those who step up to assume positions of leadership.  Founded in 1995 by a group of committed individuals, President’s Circle donors lead by example, inspire through action and give back to their alma mater.

Accomplished in their fields, the members of this premier giving society are the keepers of the spirit of philanthropy which is fundamental to the Naval Academy’s excellence in education, facilities and opportunities.

In today’s highly competitive world, funding through private gifts (in particular unrestricted gifts) is absolutely essential to the strategic advancement of a dynamic learning environment.  It is crucial that federally provided funds be supplemented by private contributions to create and enhance programs that enrich the lives of the Brigade of Midshipmen.  Through their generous gifts, President’s Circle donors provide essential resources for the Superintendent to meet emergent institutional needs and jump-start innovative new programs.

Additionally, President’s Circle gifts support mission-critical activities of the Alumni Association and Foundation.  Many member benefits and services are made possible by leadership gifts extended by generous President’s Circle donors.

The President’s Circle recognizes all donors who annually contribute a tax-deductible, charitable gift of $2,500 or more to the U. S. Naval Academy Foundation within a calendar year (1 January – 31 December).  Gifts may be made via check, credit card or stock transfer.  Matching gifts count as a part of an individual’s donation if allowed by the employer.
