D. Categories of competition

	(1) Academics

           (a) Term Quality Point Average (TQPA)

              1. The platoon average TQPA is the result of the sum of each
student’s TQPA divided by the total number of students in the
		platoon.

              2. All students will be considered unless they are officially
released from NAPS prior to the last day of the trimester.

              3. Any changes in student grades must be submitted through the
Academic Dean prior to a predetermined date after the close of
the trimester. No grades will be considered for competition
 		after that date.

              4. The platoon with the highest TQPA wins the event.

                  (b) Academic Improvement

                     1. Event Points will be awarded to each platoon according to the
amount of improvement in TQPA. The platoon with the most
improved TQPA will win the event.
	(2) Athletics

                    (a) Physical Readiness Test (PRT)

                        1. The results of this event are based on the average PRT score for the
 			entire platoon.

                        2. The highest possible score for the PRT is 300pts (100%). Anything
above that will only be counted towards the Iron Mike/Michelle award.

a Iron Mike/Michelle: Designed to recognize the top male and
female performer in the Physical Readiness Test. Prize awarded
is a $25.00 gift certificate to the Navy Exchange.

                       3. If a canidate is medically unable to participate in the PRT
during the trimester, his/her score will not be reflected
in the platoon score/average. Candidates who are not
medically excused from the PRT will have their score
recorded as a zero and averaged in with the entire
			platoon scores.

                       4. The platoon with highest individual average wins the event.

	(3) Military

           (a) Room Inspection

                       1. Each duty section will be given 4 graded room inspections
 			throughout the trimester.

                       2. Each room will be graded on a 4.0 scale; each hit being a .1
deduction. A hit with an asterisk beside it per Table 11-A is an
automatic .5 deduction. A cumulative score of 3.5 or lower will
result in an UNSAT. The duty section score for an inspection
will be the average of all rooms inspected.

                       3. Each platoon’s score will be the average of the duty section’s
scores during the trimester. The platoon with the highest average
			wins.

           (b) Personnel Inspection

                      1. Duty sections will be graded each duty day (except weekends and
holidays) by the Battalion Staff. Per illustration 11-B.

                      2. The highest grade on an inspection is 4.0, all individuals in the
duty section will have their grades added together and the average
will be the duty section score for that inspection.

                      3. Each platoon’s score will be the average of the duty sections scores
during the trimester. The platoon with the highest average wins.
