Head Lacrosse Coach
Assistant Athletic Director
Coach Shirk comes to Navy Prep from the University of Maryland where
he served as an undergraduate assistant coach for the 2001 season. He
played for the Terrapins from 1997 through 2000 and was named team captain
his senior year.
After college Coach Shirk was drafted by the Philadelphia Wings of
the National Lacrosse League and was a member of their 2001 Championship
team. In the off-season he was acquired by the Calgary Roughnecks in
the expansion draft and then traded to the Washington Power where he
spent the majority of the 2002 season. In March of 2002 Coach Shirk
was traded again and is currently playing for the New York Saints.
Coach Shirk currently resides in downtown Newport, Rhode Island.

From points North:
From the greater Boston area and points North:
Route 128 South to Route 24 South…Follow signs to Newport. Take Route 114 South at the end of Route 24. Proceed on route 114 to Pier Access Rd (there will be a 7-11 store on the far left corner and a Courtyard Marriott sign on the near right corner) take a right on Pier Access Rd. Go to the 2nd light and the field will be diagonally to your right; park in the lot on the far side of the field.
From points South:
Interstate 95 North to Exit 3A in Rhode Island…Take Route 138 East past
the University of Rhode Island…Follow Route 138 over the Jamestown and
Newport Bridges. Follow signs for Cape Cod. At stop light across from
Newport Jai Alai, take a right. Proceed to traffic rotary, take first
right off rotary and proceed to the end of the road (intersection of
route 114). Then take a left. Proceed on route 114 to pier Access Rd
(there will be a 7-11 Food Store on the right). Take a left on Pier
Access Rd. Go to the 2nd light and the field will be diagonally to your
right; park in the lot on the far side of the field.
