Gather In Camarillo, CA
Tom State and his wife were in Oxnard and Camarillo for an Air Force reunion of the old Oxnard AFB which was an Air Defense Command base with a Fighter Interceptor Squadron in the 1950s and 60s. Tom's first assignment was to Oxnard AFB where he was instrumental in setting up base housing and making other improvements to the base, which became Camarillo Airport after the closing in 1969.
Tom asked 55ers in the area to play golf and to have dinner on October 24th. Ray Medeiros was at the USNA Homecoming and Wally Olsen was out of town also, but Burt Munger, Ed McHale and Norm Palladino and their wives were available. Ed and Tom played golf in Santa Paula (Burt's hometown). Then they all gathered for an evening at a fine Mexican restaurant in Camarillo as can be seen in the photo above. Tom and his wife are seated in the foreground. Burt and Irene are the first couple on the left. Ed & Celina are seated together at the far end with Norm to the left and Pinky to the right.
