Board of Directors Meeting of November 15, 2006 Minutes

  1. George Watt kicked off the meeting with a presentation of the true purpose of the Alumni Association, the growth in the chapter count from 100 to 102, improvements in the Yard (particularly with the athletic facilities), a comparison of our Alumni Association with those of USMA and USAFA, and the strong contribution that the Alumni Association and the Foundation have made to the Naval Academy.  The USNA “extended family” is now 75,000 strong.
  2. Mike Delorey gave the Treasurer’s Report, and introduced the idea of a new endowment fund.  Mike is being relieved by Brian Degnan, pending the results of elections next meeting.
  3. The Chapter will visit CAPT Byerly with the Navy Basketball Team on the evening before the Villanova game, 24 November 2006.  The game is on 11/25/2006 at the Pavilion.
  4. Tom Lynch discussed the Red, White & You Program;  and urged the membership to support an early re-negotiation of the contract between Army and Navy, and the City of Philadelphia for the Army-Navy Game.
  5. Skip Dittmann reminded the membership of the Army-Navy Gala on Friday 02 December 2006.
  6. George Watt reminded the membership about buying tickets for Midshipmen for the Bowl Game, and Tim Farrell reported on a tailgate at Baggataway Tavern.
  7. USNA Info Day is Sunday 11 March 2007.
  8. Our next BoD meeting will be Wednesday, 24 January 2007 at 6:30pm at Baggataway Tavern.
