Message from the President of the Chapter

Election of Chapter Officers and Council Members

Please send address updates to Tim Myers (dudleyolive@comcast.net) to ensure you receive a ballot for the next Chapter Officers and Council Members Election.

Elections are held yearly according to the Chapter By Laws which I have attached to this message, only one printed page and an easy read.  We have four officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  There are also three elected Council Members.  The current officers and council are:

Officers:

  President – Tim Myers ‘64

Vice President - Bruce Thompson '70

Secretary - Ed Hepp '67, Interim

  Treasurer - Skip Phipps '73

Council:

  Ed Hepp '67

  Cal Meek '67

  Matt Wilson '90

We own a debt of gratitude to Joe Kavale '68 for being Secretary for such a long time.  He resigned due to work time commitments and the Council appointed Ed Hepp ’67 as interim Secretary.  We plan to have the election at the June 13th meeting.  If you like to serve (or continue to serve) as an officer or council member or would like to nominate someone, please email or call Doug Bomarito ’68 at dmbomarito@dmbpc.com or (503) 223-8285 by May 25th.  WE WANT YOU TO HELP US!  The slate of candidates will be in the June meeting email announcement.  As a member, you may vote in person at the meeting or by email or telephone (any reasonable means) – we will send instructions.   As a matter of courtesy and tradition the living and available past presidents and the current alumni Oregon B&G director are invited to participate in all Council meetings as Ex Officio (not elected and non-voting) and they are:

Butch Bewick '62 Blue & Gold of Oregon

Jack Kohl '65 Past President & Founder

Doug Bomarito '68 Past President

Alex 'Tex' Harkins '67 Past President

Bruce Thompson '70 Past President (current VP)

New Webmaster:  David Robinson is now the webmaster for the Chapter.  Please contact him with any announcements, corrections, and other information for the website

Shipmate Issues and Ideas - Please send any ideas, comments, and issues for Shipmate to Tim Myers (dudleyolive@comcast.net) .  Tim is actively working with the Alumni Association to upgrade Shipman and to incorporate alumni feedback.

Jobs: I’ve been asked to see if any of you are interested: a local engineering firm is looking for five power engineers (EE) with substation experience. Contact me for information.

Directory – A number of years ago this Chapter produced a directory of Alumni in Oregon and SW Washington.  It was very popular and your Council has decided to do it again.  What made the directory so valuable and comprehensive to Alumni was that we collected work and interest data from Alumni to include.  Needless to say this is a significant effort for the volunteers preparing it so you participation is desired and will be greatly appreciated.  Shortly, we will be sending all Alumni a letter asking for information with this information we already have for you to verify and information we’d like you to provide.  Please take a few minutes and fill out the information and get it back to us.  Instructions for mailing will be included.  As the Chapter President, I get information from the Academy that I would like to be able to disseminate to all of you.  This information

Includes sports, academics, changes in the Academy, policy, available jobs, etc.  Please help us and return the form when you get it.
